DIGITAL.PLUS 26: digitalisation funding in Upper Austria

Draft. This page has not been editorially reviewed yet. The legal review is still pending.

You run an SME in Upper Austria and want to get funding for a digitalisation project? With DIGITAL.PLUS 26, the State of Upper Austria and WKO Upper Austria (Chamber of Commerce) fund projects with three focuses: automation and digitalisation, data management and artificial intelligence, and secure IT systems and cyber security. The grant is at most 35 per cent of eligible net costs, up to €7,000. The project must cost at least €12,000 excl. VAT. According to the programme document, applications are possible from 1 June 2026 to 2 November 2026 as long as budget is available (checked on 14 October 2026). The programme is not meant for a website: the programme document excludes projects in the field of digital marketing and expressly names websites and design, SEO, B2C web shops and online marketing as ineligible. Ongoing support costs without a project character are also excluded. Here you can read who can apply, which deadlines apply and what you should clarify beforehand.

How Weblux does it

For a website alone, DIGITAL.PLUS 26 is not the right route, and we tell you that openly. If your business is planning an eligible digitalisation project, you can commission the website separately. Funding decisions are made by the State and WKO Upper Austria.

Frequently asked questions

Can I get funding for a website with DIGITAL.PLUS 26?

No. The programme document excludes projects in the field of digital marketing. The ineligible costs expressly include websites and design, SEO, B2C web shops, online marketing and traditional print advertising. Projects in automation, data management and AI, and IT security are funded. So you will need to find other financing for a website.

Until when do I have to apply?

According to the programme document, applications can be submitted from 1 June 2026 up to and including 2 November 2026, as long as the funds from the State and WKO Upper Austria have not been allocated. The project must be implemented and settled by 31 March 2027. Costs may have been incurred no earlier than 10 weeks before the application.

Who can apply?

SMEs based in Upper Austria that are members of the WKO (Chamber of Commerce). One project per company is possible. According to WKO Upper Austria, anyone who has already received Digital Starter 2023, Digital Starter 2024 or DIGITAL.PLUS 2025 cannot apply. Check this before you put time into the application.

Are software subscriptions funded?

Partly. Licence fees for software, cloud services and online services used to implement digitalisation solutions are recognised for up to 12 months. Ongoing costs without a project character, such as support by service providers, are excluded. A monthly subscription for a website is therefore not covered by the programme, as websites are excluded anyway.
