Digitalisation funding from the Wirtschaftsagentur Wien

Draft. This page has not been editorially reviewed yet. The legal review is still pending.

You run a business in Vienna and want to work more digitally? The Wirtschaftsagentur Wien (Vienna Business Agency) funds digitalisation projects of SMEs that have been operating in Vienna for at least one year, with 50 per cent of recognised costs, at most €50,000 per project. The project must be worth at least €10,000 excl. VAT. According to the programme page, the next submission deadline is 31 December 2026 (checked on 14 October 2026). There is a hard limit for website projects: creating or renewing a website and web shops as a stand-alone measure are expressly not eligible. So a new website can at most play a role as part of a larger project, for example if you connect appointment booking, a customer portal or inventory management digitally. Whether that applies is decided by the Wirtschaftsagentur. Just as important: only what you carry out after submission is funded. So do not order anything before your application has been fully submitted online. Here you will find the conditions at a glance and the most common questions.

How Weblux does it

If your website is part of a larger digitalisation project, we describe our part in the offer so that you can clearly separate it. Whether the project is funded is decided by the Wirtschaftsagentur Wien. For a website alone, we honestly advise you against this programme.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Wirtschaftsagentur Wien fund a new website?

Not as a stand-alone measure. On the programme page, creating or renewing a website and web shops as a stand-alone measure are expressly listed among the ineligible costs. Eligible are the development and introduction of digital solutions, software and licences, training by external providers and hardware that serves the digitalisation goal. So a website only counts if it is part of a larger project.

How much funding will I get?

50 per cent of recognised costs, at most €50,000 per project. The project must be worth at least €10,000 excl. VAT and may last no more than two years. Internal staff costs, standard hardware such as PCs and phones, and standard software such as Office are not funded. So plan the project so that it clearly reaches the minimum size.

Until when can I apply?

According to the programme page, there are two submission deadlines in 2026: 30 September and 31 December. Applications received by a deadline are assessed together. Submission is online only. Whether there will be further deadlines in 2027 was not stated on the page on 14 October 2026.

Who can apply?

Existing small and medium-sized enterprises in all sectors that have been operating in Vienna for at least one year at the time of application. So newly founded businesses have to wait at least a year. For cost items over €10,000 excl. VAT, the Wirtschaftsagentur requires cost estimates. Check the date your business started operating in Vienna before you apply.
